Alexander Wang For H&M

In a collaboration that’s meant to hit stores on the 6th of November, Alexander Wang and H&M gave us a preview of what is yet to come. In an interview with Style.com Wang explained the idea and motive behind the collection “H&M has done a great job in the past with archive-based collaborations, But I wanted to create a collection where most of the pieces have been designed from scratch. There are only a couple of items that are updates from past designs. Rather than creating affordable versions of expensive items, I wanted to design true performance pieces that are within the natural price points of sportswear of H&M, so we were able to create the best version of these pieces, through our vocabulary.”

The Iconoclasts Celebrating Louis Vuitton’s Monogram

In 1854, Louis Vuitton founded his House. In 1896 his son, Georges Vuitton, created The Monogram in honour of his late father.  The initials of the company – LV – are interlaced in such a way as to remain perfectly legible. Then a diamond. To give a specific character to the shape, he made the sides concave with a four-petal flower in the centre. Then the extension of this flower in a positive image. Finally, a circle containing a flower with four rounded petals.

Delphine Arnault, daughter of LVMH chairman Bernard Arnault, and artistic director Nicolas Ghesquière initiated a project, dubbed ‘Celebrating Monogram,’ inviting six of the world’s design pioneers to interpret the LV monogram for a new series of bags. The six pioneers are: shoe designer Christian Louboutin; performance artist Cindy Sherman; architect Frank Gehry; Karl Lagerfeld creative director of Chanel and Fendi; product designer Marc Newson and Rei Kawakubo of Comme des Garçons.

Karl Lagerfeld shot each of the iconoclasts and their finished products for Harper’s Bazaar’s upcoming October issue.

Milan Men’s Fashion Week

So fashion week finals kicks in and Milan is going crazy as usual. Endless parties, endless outfits, and endless good looking people. Here are some images from today’s street style! Enjoy!

Daily Obsessions

So now that men’s fashion weeks have started and the streets of the fashion capitals are infested with greek deity figures. Lets present this post to all the men out there. With summer bringing in perfectly tanned bodies, open button down shirts, and endless beach parties; there is something we all have to agree on, there is nothing better than a perfectly accessorized man. With the perfect amount of layering, the man becomes so intriguing to others. Which creates an obsession of wanting to know the story behind this guy. As Evan Yurman puts it “From the beginning of time, man has had a need to adorn himself with things that mean something to him.”

David Yurman launched a new collection inspired by the SouthWest called the Frontier and I am obsessed with it!

Roma

As I may have mentioned before, I have a friend visiting me here in Italy, and we decided that we should take a trip to Rome as we both haven’t been there before. So we hopped on a train heading from Milano to Roma and decided we should spend three nights. Hoping that they would be enough to see this eternal city everyone talks about!

As soon as we arrived we checked into our rooms and off we went to explore, yes we embraced our inner Marco Polos and headed out. On our first day we got to see the Spanish Steps, Fontana di Trevi, Piazza Navona and The Pantheon. We have these two sayings in Arabic that perfectly define our experience:

قليل البخت لا يتعب ولا يشقى ( 1  (He who has no luck should not waste his time working)

2) قليل البخت يلاقي العضم في الكرشة (He who has no luck would find a bone while eating a sheep’s intestine- which usually has no bones)

We went to the Fontana di Trevi and it was under construction. We went to the Spanish steps and part of it was also under construction. Exhausted from the long walks we decided to head back to the hotel to freshen up and get changed for dinner. I can safely say I gained 5 kg within a week. Here are some images from yesterday:

SHISEIDO Event

To kick off the world cup in style and fashion I was invited to the Shiseido event in Sephora in Milan. The theme of the event was “Brazilian Summer Party”. Everything there was perfectly setting the mood for the first game of the season! The music, the drinks, the fruits being passed around, and not to forget the scorching heat! (Yes Milan has been having an abnormal heat wave, where two showers a day won’t even cool you down). Here are some images from the event!

Also an update on my life I just got to Rome today! I will update you about my first day here in Roma tomorrow! But for now I better start getting ready for dinner! Arrivederci!

P.S. It looks like I am doing some sort of a dougie but trust me I wasn’t. I was just rocking some great harem pants (shirwal), a top from Zara, a shirt from Ralph Lauren around my waist, and my favorite Dolce & Gabbana shoes.

Bellagio

As a friend of mine has been visiting me for the past few days we decided yesterday to take a day trip to Como and Bellagio. As I have been to Como many times, I was keen on taking the ferry to see other towns on the lake. On our way to Bellagio the ferry usually stops on every town on the way for people to embark and disembark to get to their destination. This one hour journey was breathtaking,I personally have never seen anything as beautiful. The Italian villas that are situated on the water, the rolling hills, the tiny winding streets, and people spending their hot days on their boats. LA DOLCE VITA! As we got to Bellagio it was beautiful and definitely a great choice on our behalf for choosing to end up there. Right away off we went looking for some food after subduing our hunger. We decided to roam this great place. While walking around we ended up at Villa Melzi d’Eril, ughhh the view from there, if heaven looks something like that please do sign me up! The villa was built for the Duke Melzi by Napoleon, Melzi played the role of vice president for Napoleon’s short lived Italian Republic. Check out the images below to see the beauty I have been talking about!

Eleven Seventy Seven 1177

As I mentioned yesterday, I was also invited to Eleven Seventy Seven 1177 ‘s launch party. 1177 is a socks and tights brand which combines of fashion and action. The name was inspired by using 11 which represents male legs, and according to an antique Italian tradition, 77 stands for the female ones. The brand offers a wide range of products for all men. women, and children from the hidden low socks, to knee high shocks, to tights.

Here are some images from yesterday and their launch video, Enjoy!

I was wearing a Hugo Boss shirt, Mitchumm Industries pants and Del Torro slippers, and a Louis Vuitton belt

The Resurrection of The Denim Overalls

A few weeks ago while window shopping I spotted these pair of denim overalls at Zara and I convinced myself that I shouldn’t buy the, because I wouldn’t wear them. But a few days ago I was walking next to Zara and they were still on my mind and I knew I had to go buy them. They reminded me of the 90’s (the child in me wanted to wear them with a Disney shirt) they reminded me of the matching denim overalls me my brother used to wear and to the time where they were the coolest thing. But I didn’t get the chance to wear them until last night where I was invited to an event by Michael Kors and ELLE here in Milan in the Michael Kors boutique on Corso Vittorio Emanuele. We got to see his new summer collection as well as try them out. I can officially say, go buy yourself a pair of denim overalls again! They are comfortable with so many ways to wear them. You can go from wearing them on the streets of Milan to wearing them while farming, all you need is a cowboy hat with it (No don’t ever wear that unless its for an editorial or costume). Well anyways here are some photos from last night!

Today I am off to an event by 1177 so stay tuned for what happens tonight! ImageImageImage

Outfit details: Zara Overall; GAP lenin shirt; Dolce & Gabbana shoes; Italia Independent sunglasses; Hermes, Omega and Fendi bracelets.

Daily Obsessions – Riccardo Tisci X Nike

I have a feeling the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air will be soon roaming the streets in some fashion capitols. In recent seasons the fashion world has been going crazy with sneakers. Clashing elegance with everyday street wear became the thing to do, wearing a dress with sneakers why not? And the people that are going strong with this trend is Nike. So it is no surprise that they would collaborate with great designers to produce some capsule collections.  In this instance Nike collaborated with Givenchy head womenswear and couture designer Riccardo Tisci to create this collection, which is currently in stores. With the collaboration intended for both men and women for women are the boots in both different colors black & black and white.

Catching Up!

Soooo I haven’t blogged in a while and I don’t like where this is going. I need to be back on top of my work. I haven’t been posting things daily ever since I moved to Milan and its because of the hectic non-ending work lifestyle I have. During the winter break I had promised myself that stress and over-exhaustion should not lead my life in any form. The first few months I got here I managed to gain back all the weight I had gained in the past year, and never in my life have I had to go through nervous breakdowns as much as I did. Studying and creating in general is very stressful deadlines are set and clear, but its not like any other kind of career everything truly has to happen in the last minute. You can plan for months but everything has to take its course and it can come down to just a few days for execution. Therefore, after I got back to Milan in January I vowed to myself that I would go back to my gym schedule, de-stress my life, and the end of the day I am here to improve creatively not destroy myself. It has been baby steps, I don’t go to the gym 6 times a week like I used to the same time last year now I go 3 or 4 times a week. And as for the stress, that never ends but you start having this belief that everything will turn out ok in the end. As for the all-nighters those never end, I can see a lifetime of them ahead of me and I don’t know how to feel about it.

So to update you about my life and what has happened in the past month and a half that I haven’t been online as much. I personally managed to travel a lot. I went to Amsterdam for one weekend with a friend of mine, the city was beautiful, we rented bikes, went to the flower markets, went to the museums, and took the tour along the canals. The weekend after I had to fly to Saudi Arabia for 3 days to renew my residency there and as soon as I got back to Milan the two weeks of finals slammed me in the face. Two days after my finals great friends of mine came to visit me in Milan for a few days (and we managed to squeeze a day trip to Lake Como). I really appreciate them for coming all the way to visit me! I love having people, especially close friends of mine! After Milan, we took off and went to Barcelona for a weekend. Oh dear lord! What a beautiful city! I personally got inspired in every step I took in that city, we went to the Sagrada Familia, the Picasso Museum, Park Güell, and other Gaudi buildings.

So here is a quick update of my life and stay posted for more! And I am proud to say that I have created two collections so far and I am currently working on my third one! Here is a picture of me sitting in Park Güell.
