CHANEL N°5- Marilyn Monroe

Sometimes the business and entrepreneurial side of my personality appears and I cannot but admire a successful business venture or endorsement that helps elevate the brand.  If not the most iconic, then one of the most iconic women endorses Chanel. With her famous reply to the question “What do you wear to bed?” Marilyn responded, “CHANEL N°5.” Marilyn created a large buzz about it. Enjoy the video!

Daily Obsessions

I just arrived to Dallas, Texas to visit my Aunt, her Daughter, and Husband for Thanksgiving break. That’s why I haven’t posted till now!

I believe that accessories can always boost an outfit I just came across this Louis Vuitton infinity collar. The collar is a collaboration between Louis Vuitton and Yayoi Kusama. Yayoi Kusama is a Japanese artist who became famous for her psychedelic colors and patterns. I will be keeping my eyes open for inspirations here in Dallas (as the home for Neiman Marcus). I will keep you posted as usual if I come across anything!

Before I talk about today’s obsession, I could not help but thank you all. Thank you for the constant emotional support I have been getting and thank you for following and reading my blog. After realizing what I wanted to talk about today I could not help but think about my mother and aunts. They may have different styles but they somehow manage to like and purchase the same exact things. The combination of their styles and personalities have made me imagine this woman, lets call her the Zaidd’or woman, a woman that would love to have or already has the things that I post about. I am thankful because they shaped my style and fed my imagination to talk about this effortlessly chic and graceful woman that encompasses all styles.

Today I am going to talk about a piece from my favorite designers Dolce & Gabbana. When I saw this poster all I could imagine is my mother or one of my aunts being in a hurry, holding her son, and being effortlessly chic. As a sunglasses fanatic I could not help but love these pair. If you are planning on going Sicilian Baroque this season then go with this statement piece.

L’Invitation Au Voyage

Celebrating the Speedy Bandoulière 25 Bag, Louis Vuitton launched a campaign which shows a woman entering the Louvre after her encounter with many master pieces she reaches her destination. A legendary trunk that holds a secret for more than 150 years, with the envelope in hand she leaves for a far-off destination in pursuit of her destiny.

I appreciate when art, fashion, and advertising come together to create something exceptional.

Photo Shoots

A month ago I spoke about photo shoots that capture a certain moment. Where you come to a realization that it is one of the prettiest things you would ever see. Furthermore, imagine yourself being that person in alternate universe. This is a photo shoot done by Harper’s Bazaar in 2007 it shows Gisele Bündchen wearing Chanel Haute Couture.

Daily Obsessions

As much as I have previously spoken about the Chanel Spring 2013 show, I just realized that I haven’t t spoken about the Lego inspired bags. Karl Lagerfeld is at it again. I was watching a documentary about Valentino the other day and Karl whispers in his ear and tells him ” compared to us, the rest are making rags”. Many people including me beg to differ but something made me realize how powerful they both are in the industry and how the revolutionized it to what it is today. Ok I need to stop before I show how truly crazy I am about this industry, so here are the lego inspired handbags:

As I have mentioned before I believe a woman’s handbag can make or break the outfit. You want the handbag to be subtle enough not to take away from the outfit but you also want it to speak volumes. The Sicily Soft by Dolce & Gabbana is one of my favorite handbags, the ability of a classic design to reemerge as an iconic and modern bag amazes me. The Sicily Soft comes in black as well as white, but I chose to show the white – although it has many disadvantages, such as getting dirty quickly- but it somehow screams purity.

Celebrating its 175th anniversary Tiffany & Co. created this new form of precious metal called RUBEDO. There have been many discussions surrounding the making and categorization of that metal. Nevertheless, they carry a must have bracelet, it is iconic as well as defying time where it would never go out of style.

Playing Dress Up

So thanks to hurricane Sandy I have quite some free time on my hand. So today I decided to try something new, to actually put an outfit together! So this is a trial to see how everyone reacts to it! I built the outfit around the jacket, I was inspired by it and how much of a statement piece it is! I chose a clutch to go with the outfit because a large bag would take away from the look.

I have seen this piece for quite some time but it has resinated with me. So I thought I should share it! It is a necklace by Rachel Zoe, what I loved about it the most is its functionality. I love when you have a piece of clothing or jewelry and you can alternate it into different ways, it always gives it an advantage in the purchaser’s point of view. You can tie it into a knot, you can use it as a back necklace, wrap it around your neck… infinite amount of options.

This is one of my favorite McQueen outfits to walk the runway. As always the combination of McQueen’s art and fashion creates this different dimension where savage beauty becomes the most looked at and sought after.  This piece is such a statement on both the art and fashion levels.

There is something about a bright colored handbag that makes a woman more interesting, or daring if I may say. You have the typical colors black, brown, and grey but when someone with a bright colored handbag walks by it translates differently. I came across this orange bag by Givenchy.
